Maundy or Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper when Jesus shared the Passover meal with his disciples on the night before he was crucified. That evening, Jesus also washed the disciples' feet and gave them a new commandment: “Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another” (John 13:34).
